Maze Pricing 2026 and What Maze Costs a US Research Team per Year
US buyers can only choose Maze Free or a quoted Enterprise contract, because the $99 Starter plan excludes the US. Here is what each plan includes, what panel credits cost per response and what a year of Maze really costs a small team.

A US team can buy Maze two ways today: the Free plan, with 5 seats and 1 study a month, or a quoted Enterprise contract. The $99-a-month Starter plan most pricing guides quote is still on the page, but Maze's own page data hides it from buyers in the US, Canada, the UK and most of Europe. Panel participants cost extra on Free at $5 a credit, or $15 to $225 a response depending on the study. Vendr reports a median Enterprise contract of $29,000 a year across 33 purchases.
We read Maze's pricing page, the plan data it loads, its panel credit price list and archived copies of the same page from a US connection on 12 October 2026. Where a figure is our arithmetic on Maze's published rates, we say so.
How much does Maze cost?
For a US team, Maze costs $0 on the Free plan plus whatever panel participants you buy, or a custom annual price on Enterprise. There is no published price between the two for US buyers. The pricing page shows three plan cards: Free, Starter at "$99 per month" and Enterprise at "Custom pricing". The Starter card carries a list of excluded countries in the page's plan data, and that list includes the US, Canada, the UK, every EU country, Switzerland, Norway, Turkey and the rest of Europe. A visitor from those countries is not offered Starter at all.
Here is what each plan includes on the page as of 12 October 2026.
| What you get | Free | Starter (not sold in the US) | Enterprise |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $0 | $99 a month | Custom, annual |
| Seats | 5 | 5 | Unlimited |
| Studies | 1 a month | 1 a month | Custom |
| Panel recruitment | Pay per use | Pay per use | Credits included |
| Live website and mobile app testing | No | Basic | Advanced |
| Screen, audio and video recordings (Clips) | No | Yes | Yes |
| Moderated and AI-moderated interviews | No | No | Yes |
| AI survey analysis and interview theme analysis | No | No | Yes |
| Closed card sorting and tree testing | No | No | Yes |
| Interview scheduling | No | No | Yes |
| SSO, role-based access, customer success | No | No | Yes |
Two things stand out in that table. Free and Starter carry the same quota, 5 seats and 1 study a month, so the $99 bought features (recordings, live site testing, AI follow-up questions), not volume. And almost everything a research team buys Maze for at scale, interviews, AI moderation, theme analysis and SSO, sits only on Enterprise.
Why the Maze Starter plan is not offered in the US
Maze has not explained it publicly, but its own archived pricing data shows when it happened. In April 2024 and again in April 2025 the Starter plan was $99 a month or $1,188 a year, with no country restriction. By August 2025 the same plan carried the exclusion list it carries today. In other words, Maze has sold US buyers only Free and Enterprise for more than a year, while most third-party pages still describe a $99 entry plan.
Maze's help center adds one more caution. It says Maze runs pricing experiments on new sign-ups, so the plans you see in your account may differ from the public page, and that customers cannot opt into an experiment. Past experiments it lists include seat minimums on a Team or Professional plan, removing a single-user Starter plan, and cutting Free from 10 blocks to 7. If a sales rep or the in-app upgrade page shows you a self-serve plan, get the price and quota in writing before you build a research calendar around it.
How much do Maze panel credits cost?
Maze panel credits cost $5 each. The help center lists three bundles, 50 credits for $250, 100 for $500 and 500 for $2,500, so buying more does not lower the unit price. Credits are valid for 12 months from purchase and can be used on any study. Prices include recruitment fees and participant incentives.
Each response costs a set number of credits depending on the study type and audience:
| Study type | B2C credits | B2C cost | B2B credits | B2B cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Unmoderated, core network | 3 | $15 | Not offered | Not offered |
| Unmoderated, extended network | 5 | $25 | 9 | $45 |
| AI-moderated | 5 | $25 | 9 | $45 |
| Moderated interview | 25 | $125 | 45 | $225 |
Dollar costs are our arithmetic at $5 a credit. Most orders run through Maze's core panel, which Maze says is powered by Prolific; audiences the core panel cannot reach are routed to the extended network at the higher rate. A panel order can be 1 to 250 participants, and unmoderated studies are capped at an estimated 45 minutes.

Credit values from Maze's help center article on panel credit pricing, read 12 October 2026. Enterprise plans include panel credits on contract.
What a year of Maze costs a small US team
Because Free allows only one study a month, the real cost for a small team on Free is the panel. Here are three budgets built on the published rates.
- One unmoderated prototype test a month, 15 core B2C responses. 45 credits a month, or $225. That is $2,700 a year, on a plan that costs nothing.
- One test a month with 15 B2B responses. 135 credits, $675 a month, $8,100 a year. B2B audiences triple the cost.
- Eight moderated B2B interviews a quarter. Not possible on Free, because moderated studies are Enterprise only. On Enterprise those credits are part of the contract.
The first budget is where many teams start, and it explains the upgrade conversation. Once a team wants a second study in a month, interviews or SSO, the only path in the US is Enterprise.
How much does Maze Enterprise cost?
Maze does not publish an Enterprise price. Vendr, a procurement company that publishes aggregate contract data, reports a median Maze contract of $29,000 a year, with a range of $12,000 to $62,682, based on 33 purchases. Its negotiation notes mention 10 to 25 percent off list for 5 or more seats and 15 to 30 percent lower per-seat pricing on 2- or 3-year terms.
Treat Vendr's plan descriptions with care. Its Maze page still describes a Free plan with one user and an Organization plan "starting around $200+ per seat", neither of which matches the live pricing page, where Free has 5 seats and Organization no longer exists. The contract values are useful as an anchor. The plan structure is out of date.
Is Maze worth it compared with Lyssna and UserTesting?
It depends on whether you need interviews. For unmoderated prototype and usability tests, Maze Free plus panel credits is hard to beat on a small budget, as long as one study a month is enough. Lyssna is the closest self-serve alternative: its Growth plan is $166 a month billed annually with 5 seats, and its panel credits never expire. We compare Lyssna, Userlytics and dscout line by line in our Lyssna vs Userlytics vs dscout pricing breakdown.
If you need moderated or AI-moderated interviews, Maze becomes an Enterprise conversation, and the comparison shifts to UserTesting, which also sells only by quote. Our Maze vs UserTesting comparison covers how the two contracts are structured, and the UserTesting pricing guide covers what UserTesting buyers report paying.
What Maze will not tell you about your users
Maze answers the questions you think to ask, one study at a time. What it cannot do is tell you which questions matter most this quarter. That evidence is already sitting in your support tickets, app reviews, survey comments and the usage of accounts that churned.
UserInsight reads those sources continuously, groups what customers say into themes and ties each theme to the accounts and revenue behind it, so the next Maze study tests the problem that costs you the most. It is a user research platform that runs on the data you already collect, from $119.50 a month billed annually. When the study is done and the findings need to reach leadership, many teams turn the research report into a slide deck rather than rebuilding it by hand.
Frequently asked questions about Maze pricing
Does Maze have a free plan?
Yes. Maze Free costs $0 and includes 5 seats, 1 study a month, essential prototype testing, basic surveys and pay-per-use panel credits. It does not include recordings, live website testing, interviews or AI analysis. It is the only self-serve plan Maze offers to buyers in the US, Canada, the UK and Europe.
How much is Maze per month?
For US buyers, Maze is $0 a month on Free plus panel credits at $5 each, or a custom Enterprise price billed annually. The $99-a-month Starter plan is listed on the page but excluded for the US and most of Europe. Vendr reports a median Enterprise contract of $29,000 a year, about $2,400 a month.
Do Maze credits expire?
Yes. Maze panel credits are valid for 12 months from the purchase date and can be used across any project and study type in that time. Unused credits are lost after 12 months unless an order form says otherwise. Bundles cost $5 a credit at every size, so there is no saving in buying more than a year's worth.
Can I bring my own participants to Maze?
Yes, on every plan, and at no credit cost. You can share a study link with your own users or customers instead of buying panel responses. Advanced targeting, custom screening and Amplitude-based targeting are Enterprise features, and interview scheduling with calendar sync is Enterprise only.
