Lucky Orange Pricing and Lucky Orange vs Hotjar on Cost, Plus the Lucky Orange Alternatives at Each Budget
Lucky Orange prints four plans from $32 a month, but its Shopify listing sells a free plan and a $19 plan the website hides, and its AI add-on is priced nowhere on the pricing page. Here is every US price, the cost per session, and how it stacks up against Hotjar and Mouseflow.

Lucky Orange costs $32, $72, $199 or $839 a month billed annually for 3,500, 10,000, 50,000 or 300,000 sessions a month, and $39, $89, $249 or $1,049 a month on monthly billing. Enterprise, from 700,000 sessions, is quoted. Read from a US connection on 30 September 2026, the website shows no free plan, but Lucky Orange's own Shopify app listing still sells one, plus a $19 Launch plan the website never mentions. Its AI feature, Discovery AI, costs $5 to $20 a month extra.
How much does Lucky Orange cost?
Lucky Orange prices on one meter, sessions tracked per month, and says every feature is on every plan. Heatmaps, session recordings, surveys and announcements, live chat, the live visitor view, conversion funnels and form analytics are all included from the cheapest tier, with unlimited team members. What changes between plans is how many sessions you can record and nothing else.
| Plan | Sessions a month | Billed annually | Billed monthly | Per year, annual | Per 1,000 sessions, annual |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Build | 3,500 | $32 a month | $39 a month | $384 | $9.14 |
| Grow | 10,000 | $72 a month | $89 a month | $864 | $7.20 |
| Expand | From 50,000 | $199 a month | $249 a month | $2,388 | $3.98 |
| Scale | From 300,000 | $839 a month | $1,049 a month | $10,068 | $2.80 |
| Enterprise | 700,000 and up | Custom | Custom | Quote | Quote |
Expand is flagged as the popular plan, and the math explains why Lucky Orange wants you there. Going from Grow to Expand multiplies your session allowance by five for 2.8 times the price, so the cost per 1,000 sessions drops from $7.20 to $3.98. If your site sits anywhere near 20,000 sessions a month, Expand is the plan to budget for, because Grow simply will not hold it.
Base data storage is 60 days on every plan. Longer storage of 90, 180 or 365 days is sold as an upgrade, and the pricing page FAQ says to contact Lucky Orange for extended storage pricing. Extra websites cost $5 a site. A seven-day free trial with full access is available, and the monthly view says no credit card is needed.
Does Lucky Orange have a free plan?
Yes, but you will not find it on luckyorange.com. The pricing page title reads "Plans from Free to Enterprise", and the plan grid starts at Build with no free tier and no plan under 3,500 sessions. Lucky Orange's own listing on the Shopify App Store, sold by the same company, shows two plans the website leaves out:
- Free: 100 sessions a month with 30 days of data storage.
- Launch: $19 a month or $182.40 a year for 500 sessions a month, with 30 days of storage.
The same listing prices Build at $39 a month or $374.40 a year and Grow at $89 a month or $854.40 a year, and says all charges are in USD and billed every 30 days. For a Shopify store with light traffic, Launch is the cheapest paid way into Lucky Orange, and it is only visible from inside Shopify.
Is Discovery AI included in Lucky Orange?
The pricing page gives two answers. With the yearly toggle on, the trial card under the plans says "Discovery AI included". The plan comparison table further down the same page marks Discovery AI as an Add-On on every plan. The Shopify listing settles it with numbers: Discovery AI costs $5 a month extra on Launch, $10 on Build and $20 on Grow. Read "included" as included in the free trial, not in the plan price.
On Grow billed monthly, that takes the real price from $89 to $109 a month, a 22% increase that no plan card shows. If the AI summaries are part of why you are buying, add the line to your budget before you compare Lucky Orange with anything else.
Does Lucky Orange really save 20% on annual billing?
Close, but not on the small plans. The toggle carries a flat "-20%" badge. Worked out from the website's own figures, annual billing saves 17.9% on Build ($384 against $468), 19.1% on Grow ($864 against $1,068), and 20.1% and 20.0% on Expand and Scale. The badge is true for the two larger plans and slightly generous on the two smaller ones.
The Shopify listing is the more consistent of the two. Its annual prices are exactly 20% off monthly, which makes Build $374.40 a year on Shopify against $384 on the website, and Grow $854.40 against $864. The gap is $9.60 a year, small enough to ignore, but it is a useful reminder that the same vendor can sell the same plan at two prices depending on where you click Buy.
Lucky Orange vs Hotjar on price
You can no longer buy a Hotjar plan under that name. Hotjar's pricing page redirects to Contentsquare, which now sells what Hotjar used to. Contentsquare's Free plan covers 200,000 sessions a month, and its Growth plan starts at $49 a month for 7,000 sessions and reaches $69 a month at 10,000 on the list price, with 20% off yearly when you pay in the app by card. Our Hotjar pricing breakdown has the full ladder.
At 10,000 sessions a month, that puts Lucky Orange Grow at $72 billed annually against Contentsquare Growth at about $55 a month paid yearly. Contentsquare is cheaper per session and has a far bigger free tier. Lucky Orange's case is scope and simplicity: live chat, surveys and the live visitor view on every plan, unlimited users, and one meter to watch. Contentsquare's Growth replays sit on their own allowance and keep for two months, while Lucky Orange keeps 60 days by default.

Lucky Orange alternatives at the same budget
If Lucky Orange is on your shortlist, these are the tools with published US prices at similar volumes, read in September 2026:
| Tool | Entry paid plan | Around 10,000 sessions | What it meters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lucky Orange | Build, $32 a month annually for 3,500 sessions | Grow, $72 a month annually | Sessions tracked |
| Mouseflow | Essential, $25 a month annually for 5,000 sessions | Advanced, $109 a month annually for 25,000 | Recorded sessions |
| Contentsquare (Hotjar) | Growth, from $49 a month for 7,000 sessions | $69 a month list, less 20% paid yearly by card | Sessions, with a separate replay allowance |
| Crazy Egg | Starter, $29 a month billed annually for 5,000 pageviews | Plus, $99 a month for 150,000 pageviews | Pageviews, not sessions |
Mouseflow is the closest like-for-like purchase, with unlimited users and a public price at every rung; our Mouseflow pricing guide covers its caps and renewal terms. Crazy Egg counts pageviews rather than sessions, so a site averaging three pages a visit burns its allowance three times faster than the headline suggests.
What Lucky Orange will not tell you
Lucky Orange is good at showing where visitors hesitate on a page. A recording of someone rage-clicking a checkout button is hard to argue with. What recordings cannot do is tell you why a paying customer cancelled three months later, because that reason is usually written down somewhere else: a support ticket, an app review, a survey comment.
Many teams buy Lucky Orange mostly for the chat widget and then find the recordings go unwatched. If the chat is the part you actually use, a dedicated chatbot that answers visitors from your own site content may do that job better, and leave the recording budget for a tool you will open every week.
UserInsight covers the other half. It reads tickets, reviews and survey replies, groups them into themes, counts the customers behind each one and ties them to what those customers do in your product. See how it works on our session replay page, or start with your own feedback data from the top of this page.
How to get the best price on Lucky Orange
- Measure sessions for a full month first. The plans jump in large steps, and landing just over 10,000 sessions pushes you from $72 to $199 a month.
- Price Discovery AI as a separate line. It is $5 to $20 a month depending on the plan, and it is not in the card price.
- If you run on Shopify, compare the in-app listing. It carries the Free and $19 Launch plans and slightly lower annual prices on Build and Grow.
- Ask for storage pricing before you need it. Base storage is 60 days, and extended retention is quoted on request.
- Use the seven-day trial on real traffic. It tells you your true session count, which decides the plan more than any feature does.
