SurveyMonkey Pricing Plans 2026, the Cost of Every Plan

SurveyMonkey cut its US annual prices inside a month and left the old ones in the page as the struck-through anchor. Here is what every plan costs now, what a response actually costs on each one, and the Enterprise seat rate SurveyMonkey does not print.

SurveyMonkey's live US prices are lower than they were a month ago, and the old ones are still sitting in the page. Read first-party from surveymonkey.com on 16 September 2026 from a US connection, the individual plans are Basic at $0, Standard Monthly at $70 a month, Starter Annual at $264 a year, Advantage Annual at $276 a year and Premier Annual at $840 a year. Team Advantage is $30 per user per month and Team Premier is $92 per user per month, both annual with a 3 user minimum. Enterprise is presented as quote-only, but SurveyMonkey's own pricing payload carries a US Enterprise seat at $1,020 a year. Two things decide what you actually pay: Advantage carries six times the responses of Starter for $12 more a year, and every annual plan hard-stops at its cap instead of billing overage.

Tell me all I need to know about SurveyMonkey pricing and plans

SurveyMonkey sells three separate ladders. Individual plans run from free to $840 a year and cover one person. Team plans price per user with a 3 user minimum and start around $960 a year for three seats. Enterprise is sold on contract. The number that decides your tier is responses per year, not features, and the allowance jumps far faster than the price does.

The rest of this page is the detail behind that: the full US table, what a response actually costs on each plan, the tier that makes no sense to buy, and the Enterprise figure nobody publishes.

How much does SurveyMonkey cost?

Here is the complete published US lineup, read from SurveyMonkey's own pricing payload on 16 September 2026. Annual plans are shown as the yearly total, which is how SurveyMonkey stores them internally.

All plans include unlimited surveys and, on paid tiers, unlimited questions. SurveyMonkey Audience, the respondent panel, is sold separately and does not draw from your plan's response allowance. Forms is a separate product line from the survey plans and is priced on its own ladder.

Why are there two different prices for the same SurveyMonkey plan?

Because SurveyMonkey ships both. Every individual paid plan carries two figures in its pricing data: a live cost and a comparison cost used as the anchor you see struck through. The gap is large, and on two plans it is roughly double.

PlanLive US priceComparison anchorDifference
Standard Monthly$70 / month$129 / month84% higher
Starter Annual$264 / year$300 / year14% higher
Advantage Annual$276 / year$468 / year70% higher
Premier Annual$840 / year$1,668 / year99% higher

The anchors are not invented. We read this same page in August 2026 and recorded Advantage Annual at $468 and Premier Annual at $1,668 as the live prices, which is exactly what now sits in the comparison field. So the anchor is genuinely what the plan cost a month ago rather than a made-up list price, and the current numbers are a real cut rather than a permanent fake discount.

Two practical consequences. First, if you are reading any SurveyMonkey pricing guide written before September 2026, including ours as it stood in August, the annual figures in it are the old ones. Second, SurveyMonkey runs a live price experiment on this page, which means the figure another US buyer sees is not guaranteed to match the figure you see. Take a screenshot of the price you are offered before you start an approval process.

What does a SurveyMonkey response actually cost?

Divide the annual cost by the included responses and the plan ladder stops looking like a feature ladder. The cheapest response on the entire lineup is on Advantage Annual, the second cheapest plan SurveyMonkey sells.

PlanCost per yearResponses per yearCost per response
Advantage Annual$27615,000$0.018
Team Advantage (3 seats)$96050,000$0.019
Premier Annual$84040,000$0.021
Team Premier (3 seats)$2,904100,000$0.029
Standard Monthly$84012,000$0.070
Starter Annual$2642,500$0.106
Forms Annual$2882,500$0.115

Starter Annual is the plan to look at twice. It costs $264 a year. Advantage Annual costs $276 a year, which is $12 more, and carries 15,000 responses instead of 2,500. You are paying 4.5% more for six times the allowance, plus statistical significance testing, multi survey analysis and AI text analysis, none of which Starter includes.

There is no volume of survey work where Starter is the right answer. If 2,500 responses a year is genuinely your ceiling, the free Basic plan or a $39 a month Forms subscription covers the same ground, and if it is not your ceiling then Advantage is $1 a month away. Starter exists to make Advantage look like a decision rather than a default.

How much does SurveyMonkey cost per month?

Month to month, there is one survey plan: Standard Monthly at $70 a month. That is down from $99 a month in August, so the monthly option is meaningfully better value than it was, but the annual comparison still runs against it.

Standard MonthlyAdvantage Annual
Cost per year$840$276
Responses per year12,000 (1,000 / month)15,000
Cost per response$0.070$0.018
Statistical significanceNoYes
AI text analysisNoYes

Paying monthly costs $564 more a year, delivers 3,000 fewer responses and drops the analysis features. The gap used to be $720 a year, so the penalty has narrowed, but the shape has not changed: the monthly plan is worse on every line including price.

The one thing Standard Monthly does buy you is the ability to exceed your allowance. It is the only survey plan flagged as overageable in SurveyMonkey's own data, alongside Forms Monthly. Every annual plan is flagged not overageable, which is the difference between a surprise invoice and a survey that stops collecting. If you run unpredictable, short, high-volume campaigns and cannot risk collection stopping mid-field, that flag is worth the premium. For steady work it is not.

Is SurveyMonkey free, and how many responses does it allow?

Basic is genuinely free and genuinely permanent. What SurveyMonkey no longer does is tell you the limits. The response allowance on Basic is not published anywhere in the pricing data, and the only hard number the free plan carries is a cap of 3 collectors, meaning three ways of distributing a given survey.

Historically the free plan allowed 10 questions and 40 responses per survey with results visible only for the first 40. Treat that as the working assumption rather than a current fact, because SurveyMonkey has removed the figure rather than updated it. Build anything you depend on above the free tier.

How much does SurveyMonkey cost for a team?

Team plans are quoted per user per month and billed annually with a 3 user minimum, so the headline rate is not what you pay. The useful detail buried in the pricing data is that the second and third seats cost less than the first.

PlanFirst seatEach additional seat3 seat totalResponses
Team Advantage$360 / year$300 / year$960 / year50,000 / year
Team Premier$1,104 / year$900 / year$2,904 / year100,000 / year

A three seat Team Advantage subscription is $960 a year, not the $1,080 you get by multiplying $30 by three users by twelve months. Team Premier is $2,904, not $3,312. Almost every pricing guide quotes the multiplication, so budget from the seat structure rather than the headline rate, and check the quote you receive uses it too.

What team plans really buy is shared ownership: surveys live in a team library instead of one person's account, and there is a role split between full access seats and cheaper analyst seats who can read results but not build. Ask for that split explicitly before you are quoted, because a team of eight where six people only read dashboards does not need eight full seats.

How much does SurveyMonkey Enterprise cost?

SurveyMonkey presents Enterprise as contact-sales with no figure on the page, and every third-party guide repeats that no per-seat price exists. One does. SurveyMonkey's US pricing payload carries an Enterprise subscription seat at $1,020 a year, which is $85 per user per month, and the additional-seat SKU for Enterprise carries the identical $1,020.

Two things follow from that. First, the Enterprise list seat is cheaper per user than the Team Premier seat at $92 a month, so moving up a tier is not automatically a step up in unit price. Second, Enterprise applies no volume discount to additional seats, unlike Team Advantage and Team Premier where seats two and three are cheaper than seat one. Whatever discount you get at Enterprise comes from negotiation, not from the rate card.

Treat $1,020 per seat per year as the list anchor rather than the number you will sign. Enterprise deals include SSO, governance and admin controls, data residency, HIPAA-enabled configurations, a dedicated success manager and negotiated response volumes, and the contract value depends on all of those. But going into a procurement conversation knowing the list seat rate is a very different position from going in with nothing. We put the full picture, including how Enterprise compares to simply buying more Team Premier seats, in our SurveyMonkey Enterprise pricing breakdown.

How does SurveyMonkey charge for extra responses?

The response overage rate in SurveyMonkey's US data is $0.15 per response, and it is attached to the Starter, Advantage, Premier, Team Advantage and Team Premier plans. But all five of those plans are simultaneously flagged as not overageable, and that contradiction is the important part.

What it means in practice is that the rate exists as a SKU but annual plans do not bill it automatically. They stop. Collection halts at the cap and you upgrade or wait for the reset rather than receiving a bill for the excess. Only Standard Monthly and Forms Monthly carry the overageable flag.

Plan the year against that. A campaign that lands 18,000 responses on a 15,000 response Advantage plan does not cost you $450 extra, it costs you the last 3,000 responses, which is worse if those responses were the point. Size the plan for your peak month multiplied out, not your average.

Are there SurveyMonkey discounts for nonprofits, education or students?

Yes, and they are not on the pricing page. SurveyMonkey runs discounted pricing for registered nonprofits and for education, and the pricing payload carries a separate encrypted education parameter for every single plan, which tells you the education path is a real, per-plan alternative rate rather than an ad hoc discount.

The discount is applied through an application and verification step rather than a coupon at checkout, so budget the extra week. Students working on coursework are usually better served by the free Basic plan than by chasing a discount on a paid tier, since academic survey work rarely approaches even the Starter allowance.

What most SurveyMonkey pricing guides get wrong

We checked the guides currently ranking for this term. The errors cluster in four places.

A note on currency, since it catches people out. SurveyMonkey serves prices in the currency of the visitor's location, and the US and European price lists are not conversions of each other. Every figure on this page is the US list, read from a US connection. If you are seeing a price in another currency, do not convert it and assume that is what a US account pays.

Which SurveyMonkey plan should you buy?

For one person doing serious survey work, Advantage Annual at $276 a year is the plan, and it is not close. It carries the cheapest response on the lineup, includes statistical significance testing, multi survey analysis and AI text analysis, and sits $12 above a Starter plan that gives you a sixth of the allowance.

Take Premier Annual at $840 only if you need advanced logic, block randomization, crosstabs, multilingual surveys or white labelling, or if 15,000 responses a year is genuinely not enough. Those are real research requirements and if you have them you already know.

Move to Team Advantage at $960 a year for three seats as soon as more than one person builds surveys, and ask for the full access versus analyst seat split before you are quoted.

Go to Enterprise if SSO, governance or data residency is required, and open with the $1,020 seat figure rather than waiting to be anchored.

And take a moment on the question underneath the pricing question. The reason teams end up on Premier or Enterprise is usually not that they need fancier surveys. It is that surveys alone are not answering the question they actually have, which is why customers are leaving or why a feature is not being adopted. A survey collects what a self selected slice of customers say when prompted. The themes that predict churn tend to appear first in support tickets, in reviews and in what people did in the product before they went quiet. If that is the gap you are trying to close, more survey plan is the expensive way to do it, and AI customer feedback analysis across every channel at once is the cheaper one. Our guide to survey analysis software covers what to look for, and in app surveys are worth a look if response volume is the constraint you keep hitting. If you are pricing a dedicated in-app survey tool instead, the three usual candidates meter three different things, and our Survicate vs Sprig vs Qualaroo pricing comparison puts them on one unit, with every Growth rung in the Survicate pricing breakdown.

What are the best SurveyMonkey alternatives?

If the price is what sent you looking, the substitutes divide by which job you are replacing. Typeform wins on completion rate, though it publishes two different prices for the same plan on its own pricing page and hitting a paid cap stops collection permanently instead of billing you. Google Forms is free with any Google account and has no response cap at all, which makes it hard to beat for internal polls, but its analysis stops at counts and charts. Jotform, Alchemer, SurveySparrow and QuestionPro sit in the middle on logic and workflow. Qualtrics and Medallia are the step up in research rigor, and both are quote-only. Our side-by-side of SurveyMonkey vs Typeform vs Qualtrics pricing normalizes all three onto cost per response, and the Typeform pricing breakdown and Qualtrics pricing breakdown go deeper on each.

Worth separating the two reasons people shop, because they lead to different tools. Wanting the same job done cheaper is a survey software decision. Wanting to know why a score moved is not, and switching survey vendors will not touch it. Our full comparison of SurveyMonkey alternatives and competitors lays out the published US pricing for each and where the line between those two problems actually falls, and Qualtrics vs SurveyMonkey covers the step up in research rigor.

One more alternative that comes up on price: SurveySparrow sells Starter at $360 a year for 15,000 responses and Business at $720 for 36,000 with three users, billed yearly, and about double that billed quarterly. The plan-by-plan numbers are in our SurveySparrow pricing guide.

Prices on this page were read first-party from surveymonkey.com on 16 September 2026 from a US connection. Given that four of them moved inside a single month, re-check the source before you sign anything.
